Arran Meet Friday 11th- Sunday 13th
It was so exciting to be on the ferry and heading over to Arran! Almost a return to normal! New people and old faces... Even if finding each other on the ferry in facemasks was a tad unnerving! Introductions and routes discussed before driving to the blessedly midge free campsite at Seal Shore and OTTERS! Otters playing on the beach and dashing just short of the tents, unperturbed by people. Amazing!
Saturday saw breeze and sunshine as we headed out, Marco to Goat Fell, Danny and Jesse then Katarina and Moritz tackling the South Ridge and Harry and myself SouthWest slabs, then Ryan and Martin. I’d say I climbed SouthWest Slabs… Pretty sure Harry hauled me up Three Tier Chimney! And then we topped out with the last two pitches of South Ridge. It was fantastic, and beautiful sunshine as we retreated from Glen Rosa. Well-deserved showers, fish and chips, and beers in the bar back at the campsite.
Sunday saw a visit to Kings Cave, the alluded to bouldering in the guide book absent, but we saw another otter, enjoyed the sunshine and made all the complex logistics to head back to base. The sun still shining Ryan and myself couldn’t resist a gorge walk/swim/bum slide back in Glen Rosa, before the sail home.
A great weekend to start and thanks to everyone who made it, especially to Marco for organising.
